Dr Ciara O’Carroll


Ciara qualified as a GP from the Trinity College Dublin GP Training programme in Ireland in 2017. Following this she worked in general practice in Ireland before moving to Australia in 2021. Ciara has a keen interest in Women’s Health. She completed the Advanced Certificate in Contraception and a Diploma in Obstetrics and Womens Health through the Royal College of Physicians in Ireland. She is qualified and experienced in the insertion of intrauterine and subdermal devices e.g Mirena, Kyleena and Implanon. Ciara has previously worked in a sexual health clinic also and completed sexual health training through the British Association of Sexual Health.

Ciara has a keen interest in acute medicine. Since moving to Australia she has worked extensively in critical care medicine (Emergency, Anaesthetics and Intensive Care Medicine). Ciara successfully completed an Advanced Diploma in Emergency Medicine through the Australian College of Emergency Medicine in 2022. Ciara spent a year working in the Northern Territory including in Prehospital and Aeromedical Retrieval with CareFlight and also in rural and remote emergency departments looking after acutely unwell patients. Paediatrics is an area Ciara has had a lot of exposure to in these settings and very much enjoys.

In Ireland Ciara worked parttime as a Doctor for the Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board, as well as being an undergraduate lecturer and tutor for University College Dublin. Wellbeing and health prevention are her other areas of interest.

Ciara prides herself on her personable approach and rapport building. She is excited about moving back to Tamworth to live locally and get to know her patients whom she hopes to build long term relationships with. When not working she can be found exercising, keeping fit and enjoying time in the country, especially with horses.
